Notes:
The CMSR muster cards are titled ‘Reuben Force’ though it is frequently noted that in the Present column his name is spelled correctly as Reuben FOREE.
Reuben Foree was first listed absent on Dec. 28, 1864 when he was apparently admitted to the hospital at New Albany, Indiana. The U.S. Army General Floating Hospital was actually a converted steamship named “Ohio” anchored at New Albany. Foree remained hospitalized until his death on Mar 2, 1865. Cause of death was given as acute bronchitis however this was probably not the reason for his initial admission. Foree had been paid $32 for the months of November of December but was still owed back pay from enlistment through October and also due his bounty payment.

Enslaver Information
Name: Peter Foree Location: Henry County
Previous Enslaver:
Enslaver Notes:
There are two Peter Forees in the census and slave schedules at least through 1870. One is designated as Peter B. Foree and the other simply as Peter Foree. They were both born about 1783 and are cousins. The Forees found in Jefferson, Henry, and Shelby counties are all very probably descended from Pierre Faure who came to these shores circa 1700.
