Pension file card for Sgt William Richards and his wife, Annie offers just the facts. Two pension index cards were retrieved, from Ancestry.com and Fold3.com. The card from Fold3.com is linked in the Soldier’s pension card field. Because the pension index card, including the same information as the Fold3.com, listed the name of the widow, that card is linked in the widow’s pension card field. Both pension applications were filed from Illinois and were approved.

The Veterans Administration Pension Payment card for Annie Richards was retrieved, showing her benefits began in 1893. Her death date was noted on the card as April 17, 1911 (Bureau notified in December 1911). The card noted RR 7 Springfield, IL; this may have been the widow’s address. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:939K-FS9G-QM?i=697&cc=1832324
