Garrett enlisted in May of 1864 and arrived in Nashville with his unit in June of 1864. He became ill and was admitted to the Gen’l Hospital in Nashville where he later died. He had never been paid during his time of service.

Widow, America B. (Hind) Garrett, who lived in Grant County, Kentucky, at the time of filing. Henry died in Nashville, Tennessee, during August of 1864 from chronic hepatitis. Henry had four children: Parker, Mollie, John Latimer & Ella. Three years from the date of application, passed, while required documents and affidavits were gathered to support the widow’s pension claim.
