Pension Notes:

The widow applied for widow’s benefits in 1880; however a minor application was filed in April 1870, resulting in the guardian being listed as Ann Brown. Based on researcher’s census findings, Ann Brown and Ann Broadway may have been the same person. Neither pension application was approved for benefits.

1870 Census Notes:

Census info given is for soldier’s widow, Ann. Her name is listed as Ann Brown in the 1870 census on the second page of the linked file. She had 3 children living with her, 2 of which I presume were Anthony’s children (Adaline and Smith). It is also likely that John and Adaline Rochester were Ann’s parents.

1880 Census Notes:

Info given is for soldier’s widow. Soldier’s widow had remarried and her last name was now McGhee. I know this is the same woman because the step children listed are the same children from the 1870 census. Also Smith’s last name is Broadway in this census which tells me he was also one of soldier’s children. The 1880 census includes two pages, the first page listed Ann and her husband, and the second page includes the children.

This John Frank is an accurate match as no other people found in KY would make sense as they were either not the right age or too far away.
