On January 28, 1868, in Nelson County, Kentucky, Edward Thomas (believed to be the soldier and same Edward in the 1880 census in Nelson County) and Letty (aka Lydia) Miles declared that they had lived together as husband and wife for the past 6 years. Edward Thomas, Sr., died sometime before May 16, 1890, when his widow filed a pension application. Lydia Thomas died on Jan. 24, 1917, in Louisville. Death records for two of the children of Edward and Lydia show that Lydia’s maiden name was Reed.
