In 1870, Frank Straus (28), a laborer, was enumerated at dwelling #258 in District 1, Louisville. He could not read or write. He was living with Henrietta Straus (17) and Frank Straus (6 mo.). An 1880 census enumeration for Frank Straus could not be found.
Frank Straus died in 1881, and Henrietta Straus remarried to Eli Greenfield. In 1900, Henrietta and Eli Greenfield were enumerated in Jefferson County, KY with their children, including Frank Straus Jr. and Alice Straus.
By 1910, Henrietta was a widow once again. She lived in Jefferson County, KY with her children and grandchildren in 1910 and 1920. In 1930 she was enumerated in Chicago, IL with her son John Greenfield and his wife Carrie Greenfield.
