Previous Enslaver:
Enslaver Notes:

In the ledger, Judge Doak was listed as the soldier’s enslaver. Robert Doak is Judge Doak. The Louisville Courier, May 15, 1851, reported that R. Doak was elected Shelby County Court judge. The 1850 slave schedule lists Robt. Doak; the 1850 and 1860 population schedules and the 1860 slave schedule refer to Robert as R. Doak. In 1860, Doak’s slaves ranged in age from 4 months to 70 years and lived in 3 slave houses. The enslaver apparently died between 1860 and 1870. The link to the 1870 census includes the enslaver’s widow and his family. Members of the Doak family remained in Shelby County in 1880.
