1900 Own/Rent: Own 1900 Home Free/Mortgage: Free 1900 Farm/House: House
1900 Census Notes:

Henry C. Jeffries is 55 years old, living in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. He owns his own home, with no mortgage. He is employed as a shoe maker. He is married to Bettie, age 37, and they have been married for 8 years. There are two children living in the home with them: Daniel H. C., age 18, and William R., age 11. The census record states Henry and Bettie have only been married for 8 years, and Bettie is 18 years younger than Henry, so it is unclear who the mother of the two children in the household is. Bettie states she has had 2 children born to her, and both are living, so it is possible that one or both of these sons belong to her.

There is a neighboring Jeffries family adjacent to Henry in the census enumeration. A David Jeffries, age 31, lives with wife Josie (30), son William (9), son James (6), and David’s sister, Emma (16). This neighboring family may be related to Henry, as David Jeffries is of an age to be Henry’s son.
