In the 1880 census, Henry is listed along with other servants in the Blankenbaker household to include Alice Miller and her apparent three children, Annie, Samuel and Hattie. A death record recorded Annie’s death on November 19, 1936, in Jefferson County, KY, reflecting Annie’s mother as Alice Miller and her father as Henry Thurston. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1x5Ym5RJ-wM-GDou22JNpCUgrAdz-6CgS/view?usp=sharing
Accordingly, it is presumed that in addition to Annie that Samuel and Hattie, also reflected on the 1880 census, are the children fathered by Henry with Alice Miller.
An Indiana marriage record for William Thuston indicated that he was the son of Henry and “Alice” Thuston and a 1933 Kentucky death record for William set forth his parents as Henry Thurston and Alice Miller. William died at the age of 40 about one month from his indicated birthdate. Based upon this information, William appeared to be the son of the soldier and the soldier’s wife, formerly Alice Miller.

It should also be noted that a news article which appeared to report the death of an individual matching the soldier’s name, in the geographical area the soldier was living in with the death occurring on the same date (month, day and year) as the soldier’s death was located. It reported the death of a Henry Thruston in an automobile pedestrian accident. Accordingly, the cause of the soldier’s death is reflected above.

Enslaver Notes:
Based upon information shared in the 02/02/22 researchers meeting, during which other researchers noted a reference to enslaver John Biggs actually being John Bate, the soldier appearing post slavery as a farm hand on the property of John Bate in Jefferson County, KY, and the age description of the slaves being possible matches to the soldier (1850 and 1860 slave schedules), the soldier file records were amended to show his enslaver as John Bate.
