In 1905-1906, this house was the subject of an estate settlement involving dozens of heirs.

Horace Wesley Boarman, age 19 (his age was incorrect in the Census, he was closer to 23), lived in Jeffersonville, Indiana, in a household headed by his older brother, Cornelius Boarman age 25, laborer (“kalsominer” aka whitewasher), who owned $1,000 in real estate (the Boarman home at 168 Indiana Avenue). Also in the household was Cornelius Boarman’s wife Mary Boarman, age 20, whose occupation was “Keeping house,” and their son, Francis H. Boarman, age one. Also living at this address was his brother George Boarman age 35, laborer; sister Sophie Boarman age 19; and Clara Boarman, age 56 (unknown relation).

Boarman, died in Jeffersonville. Wesley Boarman passed away in Jeffersonville in 1892, leaving his young children in the care of their uncle, George Boarman.
