Enslaver Information

Name: Dr. Elisha D. Standiford
Location: Louisville, Jefferson County, KY
Previous Enslaver:
Enslaver Notes:

Jacob Finley was enslaved by Dr. Elisha D. Standiford, a physician and businessman in Louisville, KY. Standiford served in the U.S. House of Representatives and was president of the Louisville and Nashville Railroad Company. The Louisville International Airport, originally known as Standiford Field, was named after him. In 1850, Elisha Standiford (age 17) was enumerated in the household of James Standiford (age 38), a possible relative. The 1850 slave schedule references James Standiford, as Elisha Standiford was underage and unlikely to own property at the time.
