Family Notes:
Henry Spriggs married Mary Jane Washington on November 19, 1883. Henry and Mary had one child together, Clara Adele Spriggs. Mary also had an older daughter named Alice Hamilton who became Clara’s guardian after Mary’s death in 1910. It appears that Clara used the surnames Washington, Hamilton, and Spriggs interchangeably throughout her life.
