Henderson Troutman was enlisted in the 115th U.S. Colored Infantry, Company K. “Volunteer died in Regiment Hospital at Paris, Kentucky, December 16, 1864 of Typho Malarial Fever.” He had been credited to Nelson County, 4th District. He was accepted in the engineer quartermaster commissary department. His final effects were in the hands of the company commander, Joseph Chandler.

Notes from Freedmen’s Bureau Documents:
Documents from the Freedman’s Bureau show that Henderson Troutman’s sister, Treacy Johnson, was paid $122.13 on June 14, 1875. Witnesses are Lucinda Burton and Harriet Johnson. Documents state “Henderson was a slave of John Troutman, Nelson Co., Ky., when he enlisted. Treacy belonged to Frank Troutman, Nelson Co., Ky., at that home. Witnesses on affidavit are Alex Troutman and Mary A. Troutman.”
A military memoranda (Form 41) states Henderson’s age was 45, and Treacy’s age was 35.
