On August 4, 1866, in Oldham County, John W. Roberts and Morrison Taylor posted a bond for the intended marriage of Roberts and Georgiann McGruder (Magruder). (The same day Taylor and Roberts posted a bond for the intended marriage of Taylor and Rachel Jackson.) According to his pension card, John Taylor died in December 1890. His widow died on September 28, 1929, in Oldham County. Georgie was one of at least five children born to Peter Magruder and Sallie Jackson.

John and Georgia A. Taylor were listed in the household of J. P. Winchester, a white farmer in Jefferson County, Kentucky. Mary Taylor, age 60, possibly John’s mother, and two Taylor children – Bell, 2 years old, and James, age 4, were in the same dwelling. The next household (that of John F. Coons) included a 45-year-old black female domestic servant named N. Taylor. Any possible relationship with the soldier is unknown. John and his family did not live near his enslaver who lived in Oldham County.

John W. R. Taylor, his wife Georgia A, and daughter Sarah B. Taylor resided in house number 45. His enslaver John W. Shrader resided in house no. 51. House no. 50 was that of Washington Taylor, black, age 34, with wife Julia, and 5 daughters, 2 sons, and Washington’s mother-in-law Mary Jackson, 75, widow. (The soldier’s mother-in-law was Sallie Jackson.) In 1900 Washington Taylor and his family lived in ward 4, Louisville. It is not known if Washington is related to John.

The 1870 census suggests that she was the mother of 2 children. Morris, a widower, shared his residence with his 87-year-old mother.

William Morrison, apparently the same as William Morris in the 1900 census, lived with Georgie A. S. Taylor, widow, who was his sister-in-law, according to the census. No children, living or deceased, were mentioned for Georgie. He was a widower.

In 1870, In Oldham County, John Taylor lived near his former enslaver. Shrader lived in house number 51. House 50 was that of Washington Taylor, black, age 34, with his wife Julia and family. The family of John Taylor resided in house 45.
