This research was conducted and submitted to the KY USCT Reckoning project by Bill Williams of Madison County, KY.

Page 8 of the CMSR detailed Thomas Harris as a musician in the regimental drum corps. This was noted on the November-December 1864 muster roll card, page 9 where he was noted on daily duty as drummer. Page 23, Returns card noted he was on detached service at regimental headquarters, “on duty as musician”. In January 1865, he was noted on daily duty as musician.

The last card in Thomas Harris’ CMSR was a Notation from the Adjutant General’s office noting application on 10 May 1889 for a certificate in lieu of lost discharge [papers]. The certificate was issued.

No compensation award documents, filed by enslaver, were incorporated in the CMSR file.

Amanda Harris, widow of Thomas, was enumerated in Madison County, KY in 1900 as head of household. A granddaughter, fifteen-year old Lilly resided in the household. The enumerator noted that Amanda owned her home, free of mortgage.

The enumerator noted that Amanda had given birth to ten children in her lifetime, and seven survived by the 1900 census enumeration.
